Mgbe is the supreme governance institution of Ejagham people. Mbge means Leopard. The Mgbe institution is manifested to the public in the form of Mgbe masquerade. Mgbe functions generally as an esoteric club which caters primarily for its members. The Mgbe masquerade, which is most popular amongst all Ejagham Cultural Expressions activities, can be viewed both as a society and a traditional play.
