UNIVERSITY OF CALABAR STUDENTS POLITICS – NJAGHAM ON THE FRONTLINE
OGAR GERALDINE JENECHINGHI was born to the family of Mr. and Mrs. Celestine Ogar Okpa from Old Netim village, Akamkpa Local Government Area, Cross River State, Nigeria. Old Netim village is in Ejagham Akamkpa Cluster of Ejagham Nation. A 300 level Student of the Department of Mass Communication, Faculty of Art, University of Calabar.
Jenechinghi is a young adult who found solace in the pages of book, event and adventures. She began her early academic year at St. Bernard Nursery/ Primary School Marian Hill Calabar and later moved to Kiddies Center Nursery/Primary School, where she wrote her placement examination into Junior Secondary School. She attended The Royal Integrated College and Ancilla Girls College respectively for her Junior and Senior Secondary School Education.
Geraldine Jenechinghi Ogar is a career driven young lady who believes in the dignity of labour. After her Secondary School Education, she went further to acquire skills such as baking, sewing and photography among others. She moved to the University of Calabar to study Mass Communication and is currently in her 300 level.
Being a goal oriented Student she has held various offices as a student unionist which include: Deputy Secretary General National Association of Akamkpa Students World Wide (NAAS WW), Honourable member at the Faculty of Art Parliament 2023/2024 representing the Department of Mass Communication Constituency 1, Senator Representing The School in the Southern Senatorial District in the 12th Senate National Association of Cross River State Student ( NACRISS) World Wide and Secretary Constitution Drafting Committee National Association of Akamkpa Students University of Calabar among others.
She has also won various awards such as; Most Creative NAASITE WW, Most political Conscious Female NAAS University of Calabar Campus (NASS UCC), Best Female Entrepreneur NACRISS UCC among others.
Her quest to perfect her career in journalism carried her to far away Republic of Cameroon to cover cultural events for Ejagham Tradition (EjT) an organization poised to Document, Digitalize and Disseminate Ejagham Traditional Practices and Cultural Expressions, an excellent coverage that won for her the EjT press award.
Sen. Geraldine Jenechinghi Ogar contested for the office of Director of Information Student Union Government University of Calabar and won as the First Female to run for such position in the institution’s 49 existence, with a CGPA of 4.12 as at the time.
Jenechinghi made history when she emerged as the first female Director of Information Student Union Government of the University of Calabar and the first Ejagham Student to occupy such position in the University. It was a moment of pride and sense of responsibility to see an Ejagham girl attain this special feat. We congratulate Sen. OGAR GERALDINE JENECHINGHI on her victory as the first female Director of Information, Student Union Government, University of Calabar.
