BRIEF BACKGROUND & CAREER

Pa Oba Ekum Ojogu was born on the 20th of April, 1943, he is the 3rd child of Late. Tata Ojogu Ekum Oba aka “Ngomo-Ntitanga” and Mama Ekok Asuo Edim all of Osieta village, Ekpokpa Clan, Ikom Local Government Area, Cross River State. Ikom Local Government Area is host to Ejagham Bakor Cluster, one of the seven clusters of Ejagham Nation.

Pa Oba Ekum Ojogu, started his Primary Education in January 1957 at the Church of Scotland Mission (CSM) Osiela Village Ekpokpa Clan were he sat and had his first school leaving Certificate at Ikom County Primary School Ekpokpa in 1963, using only seven years as against 8 years in then school academic years.

Pa Oba Ekum Ojogu was an agent of Evangelical Track distribution from where he read and adopted a nick name called ‘AROMA

He started Secondary Education at Presbyterian Secondary School, Abakaliki – ‘Presco-Varsity’ in January 1965-1967 and famous Maryknoll College, Okuku Ogoja 1967 to 1969 due to the civil war.

Pa Oba Ekum Ojogu was employed by R.C.M Hospital Moniaya Ogoja on the 6th of September 1970 as a Leprosy Inspector in training. He progressed to become an instructor at the Rural Health Training School attached to the hospital which was an affiliate to the then Institute of Public Health Calabar. He undertook supervision and counselling in all aspects of field experiences, by Health Assistants Students sent there.

While in Ogoja, Pa O.E. Ojogu served as Chairman Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN) 1973-1987 and later as state trustee from 1987-1990

In 1974 Pa O. E Ojogu was sponsored by a Roman Catholic Organization to undergo a Basic Diploma, in Rural Areas Supervision and Teaching Methodology at the All African Leprosy Rehabilitation and Training Centre (ALERT), at Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Out of 32 participants from all the continents of the world, Pa Oba Ekum Ojogu was one of the only 12 participants who part-took in the extra Course-Teaching Methodology.

In 1990 – 1991, Pa O. E. Ojogu got admission at NTBLC Zaria to undergo a post Basic Diploma in TBL Supervision and Control. His project which covered Ikom, Ogoja and Obudu on TBL control and short course Chemotherapy was assessed to be excellent, to the point that Lecturers were using it as a module in the School at Zaria.

At Holy Family Joint Hospital – (TBL unit), where he worked till he retired in 2005, he was Chairman MHWUN 1996-2001, Chairman Water and Electricity Distribution. He was the head of TBL unit in Holy Family Joint Hospital, Ikom.

While in Ikom, worshiping with P.C.N Ikom Town Parish. Pa O. E. Ojogu was Chairman Parents Teachers Association (PTA) for the Church Nursery and Primary School Ikom Town Parish from 1998-2003. Chairman Men Christian Association 2002-2003, Parish Treasurer of Ikom Town PCN from 2008-2014.

Pa O. E. Ojogu is not only a Civil or Public servant. In 2006 Pa Oba Ekum Ojogu harvested a wonderful yam, which he named “god the father, god the son and god the holy spirit yam”. The wonderful yam was published by Ikom CRBCTV in 2006. The publication attracted people from all central senatorial district making people to call for the provision of seedlings of that specie of yam as shown.

Pa Oba Ekum Ojogu joined Boys Brigade in 1957 while in primary school as a RT Squardman. While in Ikom PCN he was promoted to Patron in 2007 up to date.

In December 2023, he received a meritorious award during the 140-year Anniversary celebration of Boys Brigade, Nigeria by Ikom First Battalion Company of PCN Ikom Town.

In 2017 February, Pa Oba Ekum Ojogu enrolled into Bible Translation Institute, by LUKE INITIATIVE FOR SCRIPTURE TRANSLATION JOS. He qualified among three of them and became a Bible translator in January 2021. They translated Luke Gospel into Ofutop language.

This book is addressing Afutop youths, especially school pupils and students. Afutop Adults and Elites, who have lost their mother tongue. It is an orthography for Afutop linguists as a base for expertise in Efutop Language. It is also for non Ofutop indigenes living and working Ofutop and or married to Ofutop people (annie Futop). It is recommended for Linguists, as Efutop is one of the many Nigerian Languages. It is designed to reshape, especially lifestyles of derailing youths and humankind generally.
